Faculty Position in the Negotiations Area
Darden School of Business Administration
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA
Charlottesville, Virginia
The Darden School is seeking applications from highly qualified
individuals with expertise and interest in the general area of
negotiations. The Darden School especially encourages applications from
minorities, women, and those with significant international experience.
We seek someone who can assume a leadership position at the School in
the important area of negotiations. The ideal candidate will have a
number of capabilities including:
* an active research program and a track record of publishing in
top academic and practitioner outlets on topics associated with
negotiations ("thought leadership" in the negotiations area)
* experience in teaching MBA and executive MBA students and
executive education participants in a "student centered" environment
* experience and interest in developing curriculum materials
(teaching related books, case studies, notes, etc.)
* able to be a member of one of our existing areas of the school
(a list of areas includes accounting, finance, global economies and
markets, leadership and organizational behavior, management
communications, marketing, operations, quantitative analysis, and
strategy, ethics, and entrepreneurship)
Currently Darden offers multiple sections of Bargaining and Negotiations
as an elective in the MBA program and the MBA for Executives Program.
It is among our most popular and highest rated courses. We have also
offered related electives such as Multi-Party Negotiations, Managing
Conflict and Leveraging Consensus, and Cross Border Negotiations
Seminar. Negotiations is a module in a number of non-degree executive
educations offerings, and it is offered as a course by itself on an open
subscription basis.
Sherwood Frey, a professor affiliated with the Quantitative Analysis
area has provided the major leadership in our negotiations efforts for
many years. A number of other full time and adjunct faculty from other
areas (including communications, leadership and organizational behavior,
and global economic markets) have also contributed to the program.
We are considering faculty at all ranks although our ideal candidate is
likely to have a few of years of experience teaching negotiations to MBA
students. A doctorate in business or a related discipline is required.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until
suitable candidates are identified. The University of Virginia is an
Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. For more information
