Dear Colleagues,
You are cordially invited to the upcoming AOM Caucus titled "And a 5, 6, 7, 8! Dance as a Source of Insight into Modern-Day Organization." The Caucus will take place on Monday, August 8, from 3:00-4:30pm in the Marriott Grand Ballroom Salon F.
This Caucus aims to identify and bring together scholars interested in conducting rigorous scientific studies of dance that may generate and validate valuable insights into organization, leadership, and management. Dance is one of the oldest forms of social organization, almost certainly predating civilization itself. Yet remarkably, many of the most fundamental elements of dance also have obvious relevance in modern organizations: leaders and followers, coordination, improvisation, routines, and creativity, to name but a few. Given that dance embodies many of the most ancient, enduring elements of human organization, we wonder whether a scientific focus on dance may yield valuable insights into the management of modern-day organization.
Pre-registration is not required. Further details of the Caucus can be found in the attachment. Please feel free to contact Secil Bayraktar secil.bayraktar@ozyegin.edu.tr or Don Ferrin (dferrin@smu.edu.sg) if you would like any additional information.
Sincerely,
Secil Bayraktar (Ozyegin University) and Don Ferrin (Singapore Management University)
