Hi,
Well, summer is starting to settle which means humidity around here, but not as much as last year. Good thing because it makes walking Daisy a lot easier.
Deanna asked me to forward the request below to you.
It concerns helping out with the Adopt-a-Member mentoring program. A good way to get more members for our division? I would think...
See below for more info and a link for signing up.
Sincerely,
Ralph
The Membership Committee is looking forward to extending a warm welcome to this year's first time meeting attendees and we're writing to ask for your help with two important member initiatives.
Last year, many division volunteers joined the Membership Committee to help launch our new Adopt-a-Member mentoring program and to help support our annual New Member Orientations. These two initiatives were very successful and our goal is to make 2011 even better!
The first initiative is our Adopt-a-Member program. Last year's participants found this program to be extremely helpful in navigating the meeting, as well as a great way to integrate into the Academy's community. This initiative depends on the participation of volunteers Academy-wide to serve as mentors to new members. Experienced members will be matched to new members based on their self-identified primary division membership, so we are asking for your help to ensure that there are representative volunteers from all divisions. Additional information about the program, as well as guidelines for serving as a mentor, can be found on the meeting website here.
The second initiative involves division participation in our annual New Member Orientation sessions. In an effort to offer a more interactive orientation for 2011, we have designed these sessions to simulate a 'career fair' type setting. The Membership Committee will present a brief overview of general membership benefits, but the greater value to new members lies in the opportunity to network. As such, each division will be provided with an assigned table at the fair, and the goal is to identify a couple of key volunteers from your division to represent you, speak directly with new members who have questions about your division, and pass out any pamphlets, flyers, or other resources that may help promote your division. This small commitment of time at the Orientation goes a long way in promoting the benefits of being a part of your division!
The continued success of these programs depends strongly on your support. Along with creating a positive experience at the meeting for new members and first-time attendees, these activities represent excellent volunteer opportunities for your division. Here is what we're asking you to do:
1. Promote the Adopt-a-Member program to your division members and encourage them to sign up as mentors. Interested volunteer mentors may sign up here. Additional helpful guidelines may be found on the annual meeting website here. The signup deadline is July 1st.
Please help us to ensure the continued success of these programs! If you have any questions as you begin to identify volunteers for these two exciting opportunities, please feel free to contact myself or Anne Wood, Membership Coordinator, at awood@pace.edu. We look forward to your participation and support in fostering the Academy's newest members!
Thank you and Warm Regards,
Stephanie Henagan
Membership Chair
