    Call for Papers
Special Volume of Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations
to be published in 2015 on

    Managing and Resolving Workplace Conflict

A special volume in the series Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations on Managing and Resolving Workplace Conflict will be published by the Emerald Group Publishing, Ltd. in 2015. The special volume will be edited by David B. Lipsky (Cornell), Ariel C. Avgar (Illinois), and J. Ryan Lamare (Penn State). The volume has been commissioned by the series editors, David Lewin and Paul Gollan.

Scholars interested in contributing a chapter to the special volume should submit a paper by March 31, 2014. The editors of the volume are seeking papers that deal with any aspect of contemporary workplace conflict resolution. They will especially value papers that deal with the strategic dimensions of conflict resolution, including analyses at the interorganizational, organizational, group, and team levels. The editors value all disciplinary perspectives on the topic, including but not limited to economics, sociology, anthropology, political science, psychology, business and management, history, the law, public administration, and public policy, and related fields. Authors applying interdisciplinary, cross-national, or comparative perspectives are also welcome to submit papers.

The editors also welcome submissions that use any recognized methodology (e.g., quantitative analysis, case studies, doctrinal analysis of judicial decisions, multiple methods, etc.). They also encourage policy advocates, policy makers, and practitioners to submit evidence-based contributions. The papers will be refereed and should be 5,000 to 7,000 words in length. The criteria that will be used to select papers for the volume include (1) originality, (2) rigor of the analysis, (3) relevance to contemporary practice and policy, and (4) the innovative nature of the paper’s contribution to our understanding of conflict resolution and conflict management.

Authors whose papers have been selected for the volume will be invited to participate in a session that will be a part of the 2015 annual meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association, which will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, in the late spring of that year.

Submission instructions: Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically to one of the special volume’s editors; their names and e-mail addresses are David B. Lipsky (DBL4@cornell.edu), Ariel C. Avgar (avgar@illinois.edu), and J. Ryan Lamare (jrl1095@psu.edu).
