CM Junior Faculty Research Incubator at AOM Annual Conference
Bringing Conflict and Leadership Together
Friday, Aug 5, 2016 from 9:00AM - 4:30PM
Hilton Anaheim, Catalina 1
What keeps junior faculty up at night? In some cases, massive amounts
of caffeine to polish off that last draft. But more generally, the
biggest challenge is keeping it all together - getting a research
program up and running that goes beyond your dissertation while
prepping for classes you have never taught.
This day-long workshop has two goals. First, we want to bring
together researchers, focusing on but not limited to those with shared
interests in leadership and conflict. We especially seek to introduce
junior faculty to senior colleagues that could help them publish that
top tier paper or get tenure. Towards this end, experienced faculty
will reveal strategies for undertaking impactful research, work with
participants to develop research collaborations, and provide
participants feedback on their scholarly work. Second, the workshop
will feature a panel discussion in which presenters will offer their
tips for becoming highly effective researchers: they will discuss
their work habits and how they go about their work (e.g., time
allocation, managing co-authorship relationships, writing blocks, and
other issues that affect productivity) all while keeping the other
“life” factors together.
This workshop is aimed at junior faculty who have completed their
doctoral studies in the last five years. To ensure a constructive
experience, space is limited, and pre-registration is required for
this PDW. To register online, please visit
