We are delighted to invite you to the first Conversation Research AOM PDW: "Studying Conversations in Organizations: Developing Our Skills and Ideas."

We will meet Sunday, Aug 2, 2026 3:30-6pm, followed by a happy hour. Register and see more details in this form: https://forms.gle/Jv95pLi6dnJg7Rbz9

This PDW is designed to connect conversation scholars and help develop actionable research plans for studying conversations in organizations-especially difficult or high-stakes conversations involving conflict, feedback, grievances, negotiations, HR interactions, intergroup offenses, or moral decisions.

We also invite junior scholars and early career researchers to submit proposals to present "problem pitches" for development during the PDW

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 1: Please apply in this link <https://forms.gle/Jv95pLi6dnJg7Rbz9>

Four to six pitches will be selected: Each person will each have 5 minutes to present a research problem. Then, each presenter will lead a round-table with the goal of further discussing and developing their project. We welcome projects at any stage, especially those where feedback would help with: choosing a design or analytic approach. considering various conversation data, operationalizing conversational features, linking conversational patterns to outcomes, or sharpening theoretical contribution.

To apply, please submit a short (max.  250 words) summary including:

    1. Your research question or phenomenon

    2. Why conversations are central to the project

    3. The challenges you want feedback on

The PDW is organized in partnership with the "Conversation Research" community <https://sites.google.com/view/conversation-research>, an interdisciplinary group network spanning organizational behavior, psychology, sociology, communication, and computational modeling.

Looking forward to talking at AOM,
